We are recruiting for a full time Education Officer based in the External Affairs team who will develop and deliver the education and careers work of the Society. The successful candidate will also manage the work of the Engagement Officer and seek to ensure that the education and engagement activities of the Society complement each other.
Salary: £28,443–£31,403 + Excellent benefits
This is an exciting role for an individual interested in science communication and ecological education. It is a newly expanded role and provides lots of opportunity for growth and development.
Successful candidates will be required to travel occasionally across the UK (for example the annual BES Summer School) as well as internationally to deliver their work (for example the BES Annual Meeting)
Core duties will include but not limited to:
- Supporting the External Affairs Manager in advising the Society on key areas of education and careers policy
- Maintaining and updating the BES website, including writing and sourcing copy, in particular for the education and careers pages, ensuring the needs of the target audience are identified and met
- Raising and maintaining awareness of the importance of fieldwork and outside learning
- Developing programmes and materials that raise awareness of ecological careers and career pathways suitable across all ages
