Background
The Aquatic Ecology Special Interest Group is devoted to bringing together researchers and practitioners, of all career stages, working on any aspect of life in ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, estuaries, coastal marine systems, and the open ocean. We are interested in how physical, chemical and biological processes interact to affect aquatic life at molecular, individual, population, community and ecosystem scales.
The Group hosts annual science meetings around September each year, stimulating interaction among established and emerging leaders in aquatic ecology from around the world. It is an excellent forum for meeting people working in similar fields, expanding your research horizons, networking, and socialising with your community.
Individuals interested in holding additional conferences, meetings, workshops or field meetings on aquatic topics should contact the Co-Chairs, who can apply to the BES for financial assistance. Membership of the SIG is open to anyone anywhere with an interest in any field of aquatic ecology.
