Visit of the Ghent Altarpiece, Museum of Fine Arts

The Ghent Altarpiece (or the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, Het Lam Gods) is a large and complex 15th-century Early Flemish altarpiece , attributed to the brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck, and considered a masterpiece of European art and one of the world’s treasures.

The thorough restoration is being carried out by the ‘Koninklijk Instituut voor het Kunstpatrimonium (KIK)’ and will span 7 years (2012-2019). The actual restoration is being carried out at Museum of Fine Arts (MSK), where eight restorers, under the supervision of Bart Devolder and Livia Depuydt, work on the panels during the day.

Visit the restoration project with a special group guide to talk you through the history and next stages of restoration!
