2018 Parliamentary Shadowing scheme in Scotland open for applications
Apply now for an opportunity to spend two days in the Scottish Parliament
Applications are now open for our 2018 Parliamentary Shadowing Scheme placement in Scotland, with Roseanna Cunningham MSP Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform, and Mairi Gougeon MSP Minister for Rural Affairs and the Natural Environment.
Participants will spend two days shadowing Ms Cunningham and Ms Gougeon between the 4 – 5 December 2018, gaining a unique insight into the workings of the Scottish Parliament and the policy world, at a time when knowledge of policymaking processes is particularly important. Please send a CV of a maximum of two pages, and a covering letter detailing why you wish to take part in the shadowing scheme and how you hope it will further your career, as well as how you intend to share the learning from your experience with the wider ecological community.

We will let you know if you are the successful candidate by the COP 28 November 2018.
Selection criteria
Eligibility is limited to ecologists who are:
- Current BES members
- Post-PhD
- Working in the scientific community in Scotland
Selection will be based on:
- Experience or willingness to actively communicate ecological research to policymakers
- Strong scientific record for career status
- Intent to share what is learned during the Fellowship with students and colleagues
