Commissioning Editor – People and Nature

Salary: c. £1,500 per annum

People and Nature is a broad scope journal publishing interdisciplinary research that explores the relationships between humans and nature. We are recruiting for a Commissioning Editor to solicit direction-setting Review and Synthesis and Perspective articles for the journal from across a range of relevant academic disciplines.

We are looking for someone with a grounding in interdisciplinary ecological research, demonstrable editorial experience beyond their core research interest, and excellent connections in the wider research community.

The Commissioning Editor will be responsible for:

• Actively commissioning 10 Review and Synthesis and Perspective articles per year.
• Consulting with the Editor-in-Chief, Lead Editors, and Associate Editors to brainstorm exciting and novel areas for Review and Synthesis and Perspective articles.
• Providing additional pre-submission guidance to authors as required to help ensure that commissioned articles are relevant to the journal’s broad audience.
• Making final decisions on the commissioned articles and on additional unsolicited Review papers up to a maximum of ca. 20 reviews per year.
• Ensuring that instructions to authors for Review and Synthesis and Perspective articles are appropriate and amended, if appropriate, in consultation with the team of Senior Editors

The role is for an initial term of 1 year and paid a remuneration of £1,500 p.a.
