Abstract

Robust, portable equipment is described for determining infiltration, surface run-off, and soil- and nutrient-erosion characteristics of field sites by delivering simulated rain of predetermined median drop size, intensity and terminal velocity, comparable to the rain in natural storms in the study area (in south-eastern Australia), on to 10 X 6-ft. metal-framed run-off plots equipped with collecting troughs. Some field applications in agricultural and forestry research are considered. KEYWORDS: Erosion research \ Hydrology research \ Run off measurement \ Soil moisture \ soil water methods \ study
