Abstract

This issue features 27 articles addressing the ecological impact, mitigation and restoration challenges of the global energy transition. Agroecological research is pivotal in guiding sustainable land management, ensuring food production while minimizing biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation. To advance this, 3 critical knowledge gaps are highlighted: developing indicators to measure biodiversity impacts; improving resource management to support biodiversity health; and understanding ecosystem processes across terrestrial and aquatic systems. This journal aims to foster research at the intersection of agriculture, ecology and biodiversity conservation, emphasizing sustainability for future food systems.
