Call for new members to join our Meetings Committee
We are looking for Ordinary Members to join Meetings Committee (MC) from January 2019.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic and important committee, which oversees the Society’s Annual Meeting, regular Symposia, and the activities undertaken by our Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The work of MC is integral to BES, providing a diverse array of opportunities for our members and the scientific community more broadly to come together, both in person and virtually. Additionally, MC is cross-cutting, often collaborating closely with the BES policy, publication and membership teams on various joint initiatives. Please explore our website to discover the breadth of events MC supports.
If you enjoy our meetings and want to help us continue to deliver great events in future, then we’d like to hear from you! Members usually serve a three-year term on the committee, with the option of renewing for a further three years. MC meets three times a year in February, May and October. You will be required to read committee papers prior to these meetings and come prepared to contribute actively. Between meetings, you may be asked occasionally to contribute to discussion points via email or review event proposals and their associated budgets. MC meetings usually take place at Charles Darwin House, our Head Office in London, and all reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Applicants should send their CV, along with a brief summary outlining why you would like to join MC and what you hope to achieve as a member of the committee. We are keen to receive applications from everyone, but would very much welcome submissions from early career researchers (PhD and PDRA level) and individuals working outside of academia.
All applications should be sent to Amy Everard by 17:00 (BST), Friday 28 September.
