Data Manipulation and Statistical Analysis in Palaeoecology: A Masterclass in R

Join the Palaeoecology SIG at their online workshop and seminar to learn how R can be used to conduct ecological and statistical analyses on palaeo-data.

The workshop sessions aim to support intermediate users of R by showcasing a range of possible approaches for problem-solving in data analysis, including workflows and adapting existing tools in R packages to work with palaeoecological data.

The event will run over 4 days with scheduled expert-led workshops and independent working sessions. We will use Q&A and discussion sessions to help participants apply workflows to their own data and support community learning.

Seminar Day

No R experience? Short on time? No problem! Join us for our mid-workshop Seminar Day on 27 May to get a taste of what you can do using R in palaeoecology. Speakers will present short talks to showcase recent and ongoing research that applies R to palaeo-data. This will include time for Q&A and networking.

Guest Speakers

  • Dr. Gavin Simpson Research Scientist at the Institute of Environmental Change and Society, University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
  • Dr. Steve Juggins Professor of Quantitative Palaeoecology, Newcastle University, UK
  • Dr. Kristen Beck Lecturer in Physical Geography, University of Lincoln, UK
