Highlights of Ghent
09:30 Enthusiastic guides will take you around the city, seeing all the key sites including the Belfry, Sint-Baafskathedraal and Het Gravensteen (Castle of the Counts), teaching you about Ghent’s turbulent history. In addition to the main sites, the guides will lead you to some culinary stops at traditional Ghent places.
Have you heard of the Gentse neus (Ghent Nose)? This cone shaped Belgium candy is renowned in Ghent and everybody pretends to have the best and most original ones. You will taste the different ‘Ghentse Neuzen’ and for every guest we have a small bag as a present.
We will finish our tour with a local beer known as, Gentse Gruut, in Het Oud Vleeshuis – a historic hall where you can enjoy Ghent specialities.
12:30 Tour ends and you will be provided with a map to explore Ghent.

Highlights of Bruges
09:30 Coach to Bruges
10:15 Enthusiastic guides will take your guests to the highlights of the city. The Beguinage, Lake of Love, the Old Saint John’s Hospital, the Church of Our Lady and of course the Market and Burg Square. They will tell you stories about the rich history of the city and its inhabitants.
The tour includes a drink at the Beerwall. When you enter this pub you will be surprised by a wall with all Belgian beers – you can try one from draft!
13:15 Tour ends and you will be provided with a map to explore Bruges with three hours of free time.
16:30 Coach back to Ghent

Highlights of Antwerp
09:30 Coach to Antwerp
10:30 Our guides welcome you to this beautiful historic town. The old city centre is steeped in history. You will find it in ancient building-fronts on narrow streets or in the imposing Grand-Place. The Plantin-Moretus Museum is the only museum in the world to be classified as a Unesco World Heritage site. In the shadow of the Cathedral of Our Lady, the city teems with life in intimate pubs and restaurants. The banks of the Scheldt are a great place for a breath of fresh air. The Beguinage, the Vlaekensgang and many more hidden spots are worth a visit!
In Café den Engel, one of the oldest pubs in town, you can enjoy a local beer between the locals.
13:30 Tour ends and you will be provided with a map to explore Antwerp with three hours of free time.
16:30 Coach back to Ghent

Visit LTER Site Gontrode
The Aalmoeseneie Forest in Gontrode is one of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites in Belgium. Long term monitoring results will be presented to you during this 2.5 hour visit and guided tour.
09:00 Train from Ghent Sint Pieters to Gontrode
Please note the cost of the ticket is for the guide only. Maurice Hoffmann will meet you at Ghent Sint Pieters train station where you can purchase a return train ticket to Gontrode for approximately 5 EUROS.
The train journey is 15 minutes and there is then a 15 minute walk to the forest.
