Our new home for ecology
The British Ecological Society moved into its vibrant new office in central London today.
Staff moved into the British Ecological Society’s new building this morning. The space has been fitted out over the past two months using a range of bold colours and images reflecting the natural world.
The new, bigger office gives us our own dedicated home with purpose-built workspace and meeting rooms. Staff have been discovering the different breakout spaces to encourage collaborative working, a terrace out onto the canal basin that brings natural light into the working areas and a staff wellbeing room.
The location on a canal between Old Street and Angel is easy to access from major London transport hubs and is accessible for wheelchair users.
Our new address is:
British Ecological Society
42 Wharf Road
London

We look forward to welcoming members and visitors in the coming weeks and months. The office has excellent facilities for meetings and events. For example, the flexible meeting rooms on the lower-ground floor can host board-room style meetings, informal events and seminars for up to 50 people.
We’ve worked hard to apply a gold-standard of sustainability, minimising our environmental footprint during construction, in the selection of furniture and materials and in ongoing energy use. We’ve used fabrics with high wool content, paints with low levels of volatile organic compounds, timber from sustainable sources and recyclable furniture, among the various steps we’ve taken.
